22 fall events to attend in Ottawa: September 2019 edition

Summer may be ending, but it doesn't mean you have to start hibernating....yet!


Here are 22 fall activities you can check out this September in Ottawa! We promise they all make for solid Instagram content too.

Sept 7: Porchfest

Head to Wellington, Hintonburg or Preston Street and catch artists of all kinds performing porch-side. Click here to check out the lineup.


Sept 7: Gatineau Riverfest

It seems like 2019 is the year of festivals in Ottawa, but we’re not complaining! Join a flotilla down the Gatineau River, followed by a festival complete with live music, craft beer, cash bar, information fair and market.

Sept 7-8: Chelsea Yoga Fest

Get connected with the beautiful nature of Chelsea, new friends, and most importantly, yourself. This two-day festival is all about different forms of yoga and meditation to kick off your September on a whole new level.

Until Sept 8: Sound and Light Show

If you’ve never seen it, don’t miss your chance to go. The light show is projected with the Parliament as its backdrop, and tells us a bit of history of this great country. Catch it starting at 9 pm this month and it’s totally free!

Sept 12-15: CityFolk Festival

It’s your last chance to spend the weekend outdoors surrounded by music and good vibes with Ottawa’s annual CityFolk Festival. Want to know more about the lineup or grab tickets?

Sept 14: Full Moon Yoga

Yoga? Free? Full moon? Hell yeah! The last class in a three-part series, it’s open to all levels and hosted at Mooney's Bay!

Sept 14: Nature Sleepover for Adults

Sounds cool, right? This one has a heftier price tag at $165 per person but who doesn’t want to live out a night at the museum?! As a 19+ event, it offers a fossil flashlight tour, free roaming in the galleries, all-night movie marathon, nature sketching, whisky tasting and special treats, as well as morning yoga under the moon.

Get moving for a cause and join the annual Terry Fox Run (or walk)! Get you and your family signed up here.


Sept 15: Instawoof Walk

Ottawa Tourism is hosting a walk around downtown Ottawa for you and your pup! From 10 to 11 am, explore the ByWard Market with some furry friends.

Sept 17: Feast of Fields

Celebrate organic and sustainable foods, wine and beer at City Hall! Tickets are $75 and available for purchase here. All funds support recreational programs for individuals living with dementia.


Sept 19: Ottawa Paint Jam

Watch artists paint amazing creations live and raise money for CHEO. Hosted by the Donnelly Team at Blue Panda Realty, it's a great opportunity to network with other creatives & professionals while supporting a cause. Get your tickets here.


Sept 19-22: Richmond Fair

Sept 20-21: Beau’s Oktoberfest

You may not have heard of Vankleek Hill, Ontario, but chances are you’ve heard of Oktoberfest. With activities for the whole fam, Oktoberfest has a variety of events including educational seminars, and you guessed it: drinking beer. Don’t believe me?

Sept 20-22: Canada Army Race Run Weekend

The Canada Army Run is a road race consisting of 5K, 10K, 21.1K, 15K and 26.1K events.

From the cannon used as a “starter’s pistol” to the “dog-tag” medals soldiers place around all participants necks at the finish line, this unique event is “military” from start to finish.

Sept 21: Peace Day 2019

This year's theme of "Climate Action for Peace" is bringing everyone together on Parliament Hill to support the United Nations International Day of Peace. The event is free but registration is required to help them prepare for the numbers!
