Ottawa hits 1 million population

The city of Ottawa officially reached a major milestone in June: Ottawa officially hit a 1 million population.

That’s a million people living in the Nation’s Capital!

Being born and raised in Ottawa, this is a big milestone for the city. I’ve watched this beautiful city grow over the years and we are putting in the right infrastructure to be one of Canada’s most attractive cities.

Growing up people said Ottawa is “boring” but it is what you make it.

People who don’t like the city just see the negatives and don’t even try to enjoy what we have to offer.

With the way the city is growing, it’s no surprise the housing market is seeing the effects...

Ottawa is ACTUALLY Canada’s hottest housing market in a new global ranking!

FUN FACTS FOR YA:

  • On average, 28 people move to Ottawa EVERYDAY 👨‍👩‍👧

  • Population increase is 8.8% year over year with is higher than Toronto (5.7%) and the Canadian average (5.9%)

  • We are the 4th city to reach a million in Canada 🇨🇦

In April, Ottawa overtook Vancouver to become the hottest Canadian housing market on a list of 150 international cities.

In fact, Ottawa was 45th out of all the cities ranked, with a 5.9% increase in Ottawa home prices in the end of 2018 compared to the year before.⠀⠀

Wow, right?!

Why is Ottawa continuously hot?

Ottawa’s population is continuing to increase consistently and faster than other comparable cities like Toronto.

Low inventory compared to the high demand means people are hungry for homes and willing to pay to claim one.

Intimidated? Nah, don’t be!

Just means you need a good realtor on your side.

We’re excited to see Ottawa’s growth and we can’t wait to see how the city continues to shift to adapt to its ever-growing population.
